NEW! Two New Poems by Juliet Cook are appearing in Misfit Issue No. 41, Fall 2025!
Juliet Cook is delighted to have two new poems appearing in Misfit Issue No. 41, Fall 2025!
The poems are entitled "Precious Little Doll Babies" and "Green Rabbit Within a Dream Within a Dream".
"In this dream, my garbage can was repositioned
from the kitchen to the living room, in the space
where I keep art and poetry chapbook supplies.
My green jade rabbit was removed
from the kitchen counter where she usually sits
beside a vintage liquor decanter (Four Roses Whiskey
even though I don't drink whiskey). Now she was
on my bathroom counter, facing the mirror."

"Cook is master of disambiguation, of obsessive images featuring detached body parts, doll’s heads, and the like, sort of like a nightmare of disarticulating dream states. Often the reader feels as if the words, the body parts in the poems are revolting against the poem/the self. It’s uncomfortable but it’s always eye opening and intriguing. Not your standard poetic fare."
