NEW! Juliet Cook is delighted to share 3 new poems, newly appearing in Burning House Press!

"Possible poem lines emerge in bed,
in the midst of what seems like a semi-dream/
semi-reality state, followed by internal glitch
in which a semi-truck aims to run over
my new lines or my entire head."

inside a garbage bin. I remove
the two arms, keep them disconnected

in my bedroom, against the wall,
beside my bookcase, facing the opposite angle
away from the previous mannequin parts."

NEW! Two New Poems by Juliet Cook are appearing in Misfit Issue No. 41, Fall 2025!

Juliet Cook is delighted to have two new poems appearing in Misfit Issue No. 41, Fall 2025!

The poems are entitled "Precious Little Doll Babies" and "Green Rabbit Within a Dream Within a Dream".

"In this dream, my garbage can was repositioned
from the kitchen to the living room, in the space
where I keep art and poetry chapbook supplies.

My green jade rabbit was removed
from the kitchen counter where she usually sits
beside a vintage liquor decanter (Four Roses Whiskey
even though I don't drink whiskey). Now she was
on my bathroom counter, facing the mirror."

in the poem "Green Rabbit Within a Dream Within a Dream"

NEW! Juliet Cook's poem "No Longer Part of the Latest Scene" is making an appearance in MasticadoresUSA!

"No longer able to generate as much attention.
No longer growing bright purple, other than
all the random bruises on my dry skin.
All the unwanted destruction adding up,
breaking down, trying to make me disappear."

NEW! Juliet Cook's poem “Residual Fitting Room Inside Which Nothing Fits” has managed to fit its way into MasticadoresUsa!

"Sometimes talking with others
causes you to feel fake and so
you bite your own tongue,

drain it onto your own paper,
no matter how splattered
and intricately cluttered

this room becomes. These lines
might not even fit anymore
tomorrow."

in Juliet Cook's poem “Residual Fitting Room Inside Which Nothing Fits”, newly appearing in MasticadoresUsa

NEW! FIVE new poems by Juliet Cook are newly appearing in American Poet! AND FIVE more new poems by Juliet Cook are newly appearing in Bionik Pussy!

Happy end of September and happy poetry power!

As of Sunday September 28, five new poems by Juliet Cook are newly appearing at American Poet!

The first three are interconnected or maybe they all are in a way. Past memories, dreams, interpretations...

Here are a few lines from one of those poems, followed by a link to all five poems:

"Old paint peeling from the ceiling and
landing on the floor. An outdated song
you don't like keeps playing inside your head
on repeat, whether you're awake or asleep
or at least trying to fall asleep in bed
or hiding underneath the bed and why in the hell

is your head stuck somewhere you don't want
it to be? It feels like you're spinning
the bottle until it breaks. Then gagging
bloody shards of glass out of your own mouth.
Then the parasitic afterbirth will crawl back inside you
for a feast, to remove the rest of you."

in Cook's poem "Deteriorating Words"

Then as of Monday September 29, five more new poems by Juliet Cook are appearing as PUSSY SHOTS in the new Bionik Pussy!

Here are a few lines from one of those poems, followed by a link to all five poems:

"Her syntax was running backwards.
The speech therapist yelled at her
for getting upset that she couldn't express herself

the way she used to. She was supposed to feel lucky
she was still alive and not just a puddle of drool
dripping down an unnamable face. Not entirely paralyzed."

in Cook's poem "Word Paralysis"

NEW! Juliet Cook's poem "Little Mammoth" appears in the Summer 2025 Issue of Action, Spectacle!

"My latest little brain glitch:
I thought a Woolly Mastiff
was a long extinct elephant.
Not a densely fluffed up dog.

Then I conducted
research and found out
elephantiasis can be caused
by infective larvae, spread
by tiny mosquito bites.

Transferred to new hosts
when feeding. Now I don't want to eat
or be eaten. My stomach feels
constricted. Wiggling with maggots."

from Cook's poem "Little Mammoth", newly appearing in the Summer 2025 Issue of Action, Spectacle

NEW! Juliet Cook is delighted to have another new poem appearing in The Literary Underground In Conversation - "Fragmentation"!

"The robots break dance
to commemorate human
extinction. Supplant

human language with
AI generated words.
New history of

new birthing process."

the beginning of Juliet Cook's poem "Fragmentation", newly appearing at The Literary Underground In Conversation! Thank you very much to Michele McDannold! I'm delighted to have another new poem included there.

NEW! Juliet Cook is delighted to have a poem appearing in HSTQ: Spring 2025, the latest curated collection from Horror, Sleaze and Trash!

"I might let the black cat sleep
on my bed but he keeps hissing as if on the brink
of attacking his best friend, which I pretend is me,
but I'm nobody's best friend and never will be again.
The black cat will soon morph into another venomous rat,
secreting an evil fetus that is born to die. I won't name him.

I'm not a fan of naming someone after someone else.
I want everyone to be themselves, not part of another
herd. I'm not a ceiling fan except in that
repeated nightmare in which the fan lobs off heads
like a guillotine hanging from my bedroom ceiling."

part of Cook's long-ish poem, "The Age of Vicissitude"

I'm delighted to have this poem appearing within HSTQ: Spring 2025, the latest curated collection from Horror, Sleaze and Trash!

NEW! Juliet Cook is delighted to have two poems newly appearing in Misfit Magazine Issue No. 40, Summer 2025!

"Multiple windshields crash
and crack against each other
and I can't decide which side
of the road I'm on because I'm surrounded
with evil doppelgangers..."

Also in the Books Received and Acknowledged section of this issue of Misfit, is a small Review of Cook's poetry chapbook "REVOLTING" (Cul-de-sac of Blood, 2024). Thank you very much to Alan Catlin.

"Cook is master of disambiguation, of obsessive images featuring detached body parts, doll’s heads, and the like, sort of like a nightmare of disarticulating dream states. Often the reader feels as if the words, the body parts in the poems are revolting against the poem/the self. It’s uncomfortable but it’s always eye opening and intriguing. Not your standard poetic fare."

"My Own"!

Sometimes the larger scheme of things can feel a little bit pointless, but at least in the larger scheme of whatever the hell, I'm my own pair of socks...

6/4/25

NEW! Su Zi's Review of Juliet Cook's Poetry Chapbook REVOLTING!

"Often, the chapbook might come from someone we actually do not know. Oh, obviously we saw the post about this new work, and maybe other posts from the press or the author, but we don’t really know their favorite flavor of ice cream. We are gambling that perhaps there will be something here to ponder, something that speaks to our interior selves...

...The book is a pure example of the chapbook format, and this one has a subtle and elegant presence. Ironic to this perception is the book’s title Revolting (Cul-de-sac of Blood, 2024), the work being a recent offering from Juliet Cook..."

...Cook’s style oscillates between the conversational and the surreal..."

a few snippets from Su Zi's new Review of Juliet Cook's poetry chapbook "Revolting".

In addition to reviewing this chapbook, the article also focuses on the joy of print poetry chapbooks, discoveries from the online poetry community, the importance of independent presses, and more.

"In our times now of needing to prioritize individual makers over global producers, it does a greater good to buy a chapbook..."

Thank you very much to Su Zi for writing this wonderful review/article and thank you very much to GAS: Poetry, Art & Music, and Belinda Subraman for publishing and sharing it!

NEW! Juliet Cook has two new poems making an appearance in POETRY FOR THE PEOPLE!

"He blames it on you for disrupting his convoluted flow
by not completely agreeing with him,
by not cracking and flushing your own ugly
broken shells down the drain until he decides
to pluck out the yolk, name it, batter it,
shove it wherever the hell he wants to."

the beginning of Juliet Cook's poem "The Egg Price Is Out of Control", one of two poems newly appearing in POETRY FOR THE PEOPLE
