Happy October! What a wonderful month to buy a poetry chapbook!

I am sharing three new mini reviews I discovered today of three different poetry chapbooks by Juliet Cook/me (each of which I still happen to have a few copies available for sale in the Blood Pudding Press shop, in case anyone would like to acquire one for October, Fall, or Halloween).

"I love this book. It’s completely in Juliet Cooks style. You could tell that she had a blast writing this book." Davide Nixon

about the chapbook "Red Flames Burning Out" (Grey Book Press, 2023)

"This is a crazy collection of poetry. If you know anything about Juliet Cook’s style or aesthetic then you’ll know that it’s dolls, vaginas (yonic), murder, birds, and then David Lynch. All of this is expressed through her poetry, and then there is a hint of comfort, which you should want in poetry. Hopefully this review is vague enough that it makes the book sound interesting. I really loved this book." Davide Nixon

about the chapbook "Contorted Doom Conveyor (Gutter Snob Books, 2023)

"Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you for being you, Juliet. I love it." Suzanne Grazyna

about the chapbook "REVOLTING" (Cul-de-sac of Blood, 2024)

Links to these three chapbooks appear below.

I can't even be in charge of my own body,
so what makes me think I can save anyone else.
He says I smell like pepper, but that doesn't mean I am
strong enough to fight back.

The pepper works itself into my eyes and blinds me,
but even if I am temporarily numbed,
I will never be like him, I will never tear others apart
for no reason other than brutal force.

All he wants to do is destroy
in order to feel like his body is stronger.

in the poem "Pepper" which appears in this chapbook.

A New Review of EVIL ME by MISH (Blood Pudding Press, 2020) - Reviewed by Alex S. Johnson

A new review of MISH's poetry chapbook, "EVIL ME" (published by Blood Pudding Press in 2020). Reviewed by Alex S. Johnson.

After reading the review, you can find out more and/or acquire your own copy of "EVIL ME" from the Blood Pudding Press shop HERE - https://www.etsy.com/listing/856406887/evil-me-by-mish-2020-blood-pudding-press

"Mish Murphy is an educator and poet, among many other things. Her observations are keen and her lines are wickedly inscribed into the page, bearing the impress of years. She can read French and Russian and negotiate the nuances of Nicolai Gogol, or render judgment on whether Sisyphus should truly be considered happy, while at the same time sitting back with a glass of vodka rocks in one hand and a joint in the other, easing life's cruelties with class, sophistication and a sense of humor that transcends the usual hipster scorn. She has been there and done that. You should keep your eyes peeled for her future products. As for this particular production, it is lovingly hand-crafted by Juliet Cook, trailing tactile eccentricity. I highly recommend encountering Mish's Evil Me. You'll find a lot to admire."

"He thinks he can make it up to you
by suddenly replacing you

with an eyeless, mouthless mannequin,
silently positioned against your closed garage door
like an unasked for reminder or a secret test.

She thinks she can make it up to you
by telling you to rip off its head
and immediately toss it in the garbage can.

As if all of this is easy
as long as you don't speak for yourself."

in the poem "
Some People Want to Remove Your Eyes"

NEW! Short Poems of Violence and Chickens! NEW from Blood Pudding Press, end of October 2022!

"They get hooked and are craving
the style of a carousel horse.
A beautiful ride filled with a lovely lineup
of colorful animals that were never alive.
Prettier than real life.

This broken pony ride
is a circle of girls who used to be
alive, might still be sort of.

Their bodies are mostly set pieces.
Their bodies are mostly props."

NEW! Short Poems of Violence and Chickens by Juliet Cook and Darryl Shupe has now been newly added to the Blood Pudding Press shop!

The first new Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook of 2022!

Juliet Cook and Darryl Shupe's poetic collaboration was unexpectedly inspired by Juliet having a hissy fit about Darryl's use of the word nasty to describe being drooled on by a sheep at a county fair, because she felt like nasty was an overused word. Instead of staying annoyed, she used his sentence to start a poem, which ended up resulting in 18 collaborative poems that fused nasty animal/human hybridization with other disturbing elements of existence. 15 of those poems are included within this collection.
Juliet is a stuck pig/circus peanut hybrid.
Darryl is a swearing carousel horse.
Both of them like goats, but Darryl does not like clucking chickens.

Buyers may choose between the HOT chicken cover OR the DUNK YOUR DIPPER! cover OR let the shop choose for you.

Here is a link to where this chapbook can be purchased from the Blood Pudding Press shop (if you would rather purchase it via Paypal, that is fine and dandy too. Just send $10 to Julietcoo@gmail.com via Paypal and include your cover preference and address).

The NEW May Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has arrived (starting with three teaser piece poems from the new Blood Pudding Press chapbook)!

The NEW May flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is here!

It begins with three teaser piece poems from the new Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "POISON MOONLIGHT" by Jason O'Toole. It is filled with new poetry by John Sweet, E. Martin Pedersen, Kristin Garth, Don Thompson, R. Bremner, Tom Montag, and Yuan Changming.

"The peculiar smell of the inevitable stops time - it gets in your blood like poison does, and then you die - No longer one with the natural world - you trade strange monsters - it’s your voice of truth born of your myth of truth - glowering between Mercury and an international space station - Poppies that used to be enlightened have a jaundiced and flaccid look - Neuro-witchcraft: the hippocampus boiling a cauldron of bad memories - where images of people I’ve long forgotten dance furiously in vain hope that I’ll remember - demons start to revolt With ghosts from under the ground - been wanting to burn down this goddamn town since the day we arrived - homemade bread of disabling dread - laying eggs above alligators - In a tsunami filled with viruses & monsters - with their lopsided pentagram - Probability is half of it - We each believe our selves to be The hero on our own stage - and when i show you what i’ve written, you tell me to leave..."
