The Poetic Pursuit of Juliet Cook - Updated Website

I got VERY frustrated and upset for many hours when I accidentally deleted part of my own (Juliet Cook's) website and couldn't figure out how to restore it. Despite my serious frustration, I then spent several more hours working on updating it. Instead of trying to re-do my Home page the way it was before, I made it different and it might look even better now (or at least different).

Here is my newly updated website - https://julietcook.weebly.com/

Among the updates, the Home page now includes information about and a link to the NEW Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "Short Poems of Violence and Chickens" by Juliet Cook and Darryl Shupe.

And also, here is another link to "Short Poems of Violence and Chickens" - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1335251323/new-short-poems-of-violence-and-chickens

NEW! Short Poems of Violence and Chickens, a collaborative poetry chapbook by Juliet Cook and Darryl Shupe, is newly available from Blood Pudding Press!

NEW! Short Poems of Violence and Chickens by Juliet Cook and Darryl Shupe has now been newly added to the Blood Pudding Press shop!

The first new Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook of 2022!

***

Juliet Cook and Darryl Shupe's poetic collaboration was unexpectedly inspired by Juliet having a hissy fit about Darryl's use of the word nasty to describe being drooled on by a sheep at a county fair, because she felt like nasty was an overused word. Instead of staying annoyed, she used his sentence to start a poem, which ended up resulting in 18 collaborative poems that fused nasty animal/human hybridization with other disturbing elements of existence. 15 of those poems are included within this collection.
Juliet is a stuck pig/circus peanut hybrid.
Darryl is a swearing carousel horse.
Both of them like goats, but Darryl does not like clucking chickens.
***
Buyers may choose between the HOT chicken cover OR the DUNK YOUR DIPPER! cover OR let the shop choose for you.

Here is a link to where this chapbook can be purchased from the Blood Pudding Press shop (if you would rather purchase it via Paypal, that is fine and dandy too. Just send $10 to Julietcoo@gmail.com via Paypal and include your cover preference and address).

Any questions, just ask.

"Other times I can't control

what my own mind sees

or what happens to me.

Sometimes my mind exaggerates things.

Other times it blocks things out.

Sometimes my brain cells discharge

uncontrolled electrical activity.

Sometimes it's not up to me.

When it is, I'll watch whatever I want to,

whether it's based on real life or exaggerated make believe."

New! Three new poems by Juliet Cook are appearing in A Thin Slice of Anxiety!

"My mind can temporarily detach itself
from my own bad habits,
but my body keeps exposing

an abstract lullaby of gurgling internal
streams turning into screams."

The First Thirteen Myna Birds Flock of 2022 is HERE!

Happy 2022 from Thirteen Myna Birds!

🖤
The first Thirteen Myna Birds flock of 2022 is now upon us, offering poetry and art by Kim Malinowki, MISH, jck hnry, Wayne F. Burke, Geoff Sawers, and Peter Mladinic!
Coffins rose up - I’m cloaked in red hood—spinning - bobbing to the Earth's surface - she sits on a stool behind a plastic barrier - wears a mask just as we all do right now - my dream notes are confusing and filled with dark images - sharp, dripping canines - my inbox is filled with stark reminders - not that big a deal unless you are the one in the box - They all hate you but none understand you - Silk webs wrap half a hawthorn - I might paint my face so that my face is like a mask - bleached spine on a library shelf - A mole in the middle of my forehead grew into an eye - Blink and you'll never blink again - Don’t stop till I say Stop.
