A NEW Thirteen Myna Birds Flock has finally arrived!

Hello from Thirteen Myna Birds!

"Voice turned screechy, my soft hands, now hard claws - in the stations of silence, the static in between channels - The rain drizzles on - to be content to exist for however long - longer than the moth who burns itself out in light - she wears an officer’s silver jumpsuit, laser gun in her belt - and I explode inside - My face has changed to skull-bone, covered in a hard shell - the moment I put the pen to it the page bursts into flames - Lost in a burned prairieland - sidewalk rubbish floating up at ya like attack-ghosts - a wall that needs to be fed Blood - A tiny white flower blooms Against all the dark noises..."

***

It has been quite a while since a new Thirteen Myna Birds flock has arrived, but better late than never, I hope.

Within this new Thirteen Myna Birds flock, you can Spring into poetry and visual art by MISH - read some poetry by John Andrew Fredrick and listen to some music from his band, the black watch - and read some poetry by Holly Day, Wayne F Burke, Alexandra Dark, Yuan Changming, and James Moran.

Look, listen, and read it all HERE - https://13myna.blogspot.com/

(I'm also semi-tentatively thinking that instead of waiting months for the next new Myna Birds update, I might continually add a few new poems to this flock within the Poetry Month of April. This new flock of 21 creative contributions will stay up AT LEAST throughout the whole month of April, but additional poems might join the flock throughout that month.)

Autumn Sky Poetry DAILY's Saturday book feature is the Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, EVIL ME by MISH!

Autumn Sky Poetry DAILY's Saturday book feature is the 2020 Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "EVIL ME" by MISH!

I said hello
to the death songs inside me.

I caressed the safety razor
I used to shave my legs.
I couldn’t force myself
to carve the flesh of my wrists.

I asked my mother
to move so I could reach
the cabinet under the kitchen sink:
I’ll drink Drano.
I’ll kill myself.

No, you won’t, said Mother
and told me to set the table.

The NEW July Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE!

The NEW July flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has arrived! Offering poetry/art by David Henson - Wayne F Burke - MISH - Abigail Denton - Robert Beveridge - Darryl Shupe - Juliet Cook - Linda Umans.

Rats chewed through our foundation - the cadavers of all the women - the DNA particles from a lost love rise up in the feathers and re-break her heart - the crazy girl I thought I was rid of - The mother asked her daughter if she’d like to adopt another doll - The girl said she wanted one without a head - Some days I walk in the alcove between my face and my skull - Sometimes I feel like executing my brain - pages loved now crumbled - It’s no use thinking - I knew the answer before the question was asked - It wasn’t the first time I was murdered - I’m out to sea in a hurricane - the serial killer in your epiglottis sent down to the acid pit - suspicious of everyone - (the ones who are still speaking to me).

The NEW March 2022 Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE

The NEW March flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE! - https://13myna.blogspot.com/

With poetry by Lorna D. Keach, Lauren Reynolds, Kristin Garth, John Grey, Derek Lake Berghuis, Jan Ball, Maria Cameron, Meg Smith, Lillian Necakov, and art by MISH!

The ticket seller is asleep in his cage - my room had no window, only white liquor and a monsoon - the one who loves you shows you the trees full of hooks - like the leaf-light of the darkest forest - A room full of shrunken heads - with a gravel crunch and the click of teeth - willing to stand there skeletal but proud, with tiny brown corpses littered at their feet - more a death sentence, than impediment - Footsteps on their way and the figure could be skeletal, could be gaunt, could be anybody - I could see you becoming prey to some larger insect or bird - a wildness I’ve tried to hide, but can barely contain - I’m compelled to shelter Barbies in a plastic house inside a wooden one I own - Programmed and predictable, we are dominated by prayer - Behind the curtains of an invisible world - why would all your meat, be covered by a flimsy skin coat? - reflecting the thin arms of bare trees - The flaming sky signed our names in blood - The porcelain lamp shattered in your hand, and left no doubt - hearts holler joyfully into the black earth - tucked into the endoskeleton of your former lover - White light creeps into your eyes, where nothing lives.

The first Thirteen Myna Birds flock of 2022 is now upon us, offering poetry and art by Kim Malinowki, MISH, jck hnry, Wayne F. Burke, Geoff Sawers, and Peter Mladinic!
Coffins rose up - I’m cloaked in red hood—spinning - bobbing to the Earth's surface - she sits on a stool behind a plastic barrier - wears a mask just as we all do right now - my dream notes are confusing and filled with dark images - sharp, dripping canines - my inbox is filled with stark reminders - not that big a deal unless you are the one in the box - They all hate you but none understand you - Silk webs wrap half a hawthorn - I might paint my face so that my face is like a mask - bleached spine on a library shelf - A mole in the middle of my forehead grew into an eye - Blink and you'll never blink again - Don’t stop till I say Stop.

NEW! The December Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE!

The NEW December Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has arrived! Featuring visual art by MISH and poetry by Elyse Hart - Kaci Skiles Laws - Jeremy Szuder - DS Maolalai - Jessica Purdy - Paul Ilechko - Andrew K. Peterson - Vin Whitman.

The simmering mosquito larvae - controlled by the powers of his sorrow - all stretched and making ruts - made a house a home, a home a prison - sometimes I get clocks & mailboxes mixed up - how not to get stuck - and spoiled with cigarette ends - and acid and roasted pig - a dry field, broken open - leaving behind a bitter scrawling of goodbye - I have a hole inside me where love ought to be - cold as broken glass pieces - choose to be unpicked - all the uncomfortable people - the condition that makes them laugh at inappropriate times - the people who couldn't escape - Every root tries to grab hold - blackness feathering the strings - They drown the white horse - flaunting belly until the regurgitation of death - the horse’s nostrils fill with mud

My pussy and legs are buried deep under an abandoned sand castle—
only my feet are visible—they wiggle at passers-by—
And my heart—I can’t find my heart.

My heart got stung by a bee, only once, but it was a bad bee.

Magnolia Swirl by MISH

"All your glory’s hidden by folded masks - Scents of sharp sterile swabs - Moths batter themselves against the tent - Talons will tear a coverlet in pink - grey matter splattered upon the wall you beat your head against - Merciless ravaging of life - We are twins in different universes - the halos of tarnished angels - the slow decay of bodies - the sweetness of an imagined kiss - where each of us holds to this strange broken world - when those loud fires came into her dreams - Tomorrow another mask"

"during this time of pandemic - Sky is cloudless; birds don't sing - and the days Are quiet as death - gargling instead of brushing teeth - I’m transcribing documents that were written by ghosts with feathers and dust - Shift managers and supervisors demand and take - take these new pills and calm down - the control module has been jammed by fragments - a doll falling out of a tree - faster than cancer - we were wearing the dress of altered states - I was rolling around in some flowers with vomit in my hair - the shape of spilled fluid - enter the final labyrinth - every sky ends with nameless colors - flowers carry sickness here - I speak the language of darkness - we carry the burdens of ourselves and our sisters - I had on the face of an animal over the mask of a girl"

he stumbled into his “vanishing box” - decomposing beneath unbroken skin - ghosts walk upside-down across the ceiling - salivating over evidence - decayed buildings - the crazy in her twinkled - the tip into the fleshlight - turned up it floats faster - it’s mutiny you know to be human inside of this sex show - she wanted him to feel intimidated and to feel as insignificant as she did

The NEW June Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has Arrived!

Mother-in-Law's Tongue by MISH
"I am the rusty fence wrapped around the graveyard - all week the rainsoaked pavements have been white with second-hand sunshine - treading your breath - I watch you fly off without me - I was supposed to be your island not the sea you drown in - Pain receded to an ache, then to nothing worth noticing - My heart is full of dust - The wet was water, was pus, was blood, was stink - I should never have told her that I wrote any poetry."
The new June flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has arrived, offering art by MISH and poetry by Ann Kestner, DS Maolalai, Michael A. Griffith, and Brittany Sabatino!

Happy Poetry Month from Thirteen Myna Birds!

This NEW April flock of Myna Birds features Latif Ba, L.B. Stringfellow, MISH, John D. Robinson, Nicholas Hayes, Daniel G. Snethen, Alexander P. Garza, and Felix Purat.

"In the dream, I am on the dark side - In manacles chafing ashy ankles and nails like wild flamingos - Here the dead live close to the living - I am troubled by the heaviness of being - I know it’s temporary, just like everything - all of it in a fifth of vodka or in the dizziness of speech - One who’s svelte becomes lumbering and oafish - He licks his teeth frantically trying to see if they are loose - with space to fill with truth - the spider-webby veins of gravity and time - where the leaves of trees become the dead wings of birds - A web of brain matter, rummaged through - That’s your gift? - the slop of undigested graves - how they seem to construct themselves - It’s astounding: how little time people spend with themselves - She's empty, running on empty - Just cold dead eye balls - gazing down aisles lined with radiant bottles of single malt whiskey, Barbadian rum, vodka white as snow - A sparrow is trapped in the terminal above in caged frustration its wings express a message - Crouching on the stoop, he becomes a gargoyle only to become stone. How else does one become permanent?"

Creative beaks and wings and things by Eileen Murphy/MISH, Michael A. Griffith, Karen L. George, Dustin Pickering, Valerie Loveland, and John Grey

shiny, pointy party hats - pass through these ghosts - Something fleshy falls on my plate - Our U.S. president is a monster - Every stair I meet, I imagine falling, because I can tell the future - I repeatedly press the stop button - tiptoe toward pale blue - as a magic horse in the wind - The sun rises, vibrates light into inky night - Doubt is the flower that grows in my heart - Is it still a bomb if it clicks instead of ticks?

While the room is melting And The Shadows come to call - Our interstellar dance steps invent history - Military Inserts insects Into my brain - Crows fly from me - so close to the whisper of an artery - Join us for air so thin you won’t breath - deterioration devours us - Thousands of spiders, centipedes, flies Erupted from my eyelids - they sacrificed themselves for the profit of a few - Crematorium Bursting with the gritty sooty dead - how could I have seen a spider from across the room, in the dark? - Did it go under the bed?
