NEW! The August Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has Arrived!

"When will we quarantine together? - epicenter of the epidemic - mind full of rabies - shoved into this gothic monster closet - leaving a wet glistening trail - butterfly eyebrows ready to skewer - like a stab-vest on the shoulder - when the circus came to town - the National Museum of Death - The drunken angels clink glasses - One sock black the other sock gone - hung from his beard - How do you think I got a funny stump?"

Shortly before the end of August the NEW August flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has finally arrived!

This flock begins with 2 teaser piece poems from the NEW Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "EVIL ME" by Eileen MISH Murphy! Followed by 13 other poems from Jennifer Shneiderman, Michael A. Griffith, Howie Good, C. Cropani, DS Maolalai, and Thomas E. Simmons!

Magnolia Swirl by MISH

"All your glory’s hidden by folded masks - Scents of sharp sterile swabs - Moths batter themselves against the tent - Talons will tear a coverlet in pink - grey matter splattered upon the wall you beat your head against - Merciless ravaging of life - We are twins in different universes - the halos of tarnished angels - the slow decay of bodies - the sweetness of an imagined kiss - where each of us holds to this strange broken world - when those loud fires came into her dreams - Tomorrow another mask"

"during this time of pandemic - Sky is cloudless; birds don't sing - and the days Are quiet as death - gargling instead of brushing teeth - I’m transcribing documents that were written by ghosts with feathers and dust - Shift managers and supervisors demand and take - take these new pills and calm down - the control module has been jammed by fragments - a doll falling out of a tree - faster than cancer - we were wearing the dress of altered states - I was rolling around in some flowers with vomit in my hair - the shape of spilled fluid - enter the final labyrinth - every sky ends with nameless colors - flowers carry sickness here - I speak the language of darkness - we carry the burdens of ourselves and our sisters - I had on the face of an animal over the mask of a girl"

"The world is beginning slowness, about to slide into the muddy banks - Our bones lock our refreshed hearts in a new cage - a twisted birthday where one woke at their funeral - we jump and pounce on each other - nowhere to run - the squirrel with brains knocked out by someone's car - Complete items are wrong, ugly, incorrect - you want me to notice the words, what remains of them. What did they mean before and what do they mean now? - How many times a day do I place false closures on the ends of words? - just grey and white and swollen with brine - driving on her own ghost train - I pretend to fit the correct ends into sockets - blood drawn, buttoned lips - and out it comes, surprising you with its ferocity - pleasure gardens for hyenas - The occupation of colors avalanches - Annihilate me and my fairy tale"

Could your creative work be a part of a future Thirteen Myna Birds flock?

As of right now, the forthcoming February flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has one remaining spot in the flock for a uniquely wonderful poem or piece of art. Could it be yours?

You can join forces with the creative offerings of other poetry/art by Sandra Feen, Eileen Murphy/MISH, John Sweet, Daniel G. Snethen, and John Compton, all of whose work will be appearing within that February flock.

Of course as of right now, the current January flock of Myna Birds (the first of 2020) is still available for your perusal, featuring creative offerings from some of the poets/artists named above and also John Grey, Ashley Cox, Aaron Pride, and Wayne F Burke.

Read the current offerings and consider submitting to Thirteen Myna Birds if you think your creative offerings might be a good fit among the other oddities. The guidelines appear near the middle right of the flock.

"through enameled bobbing horses against the centripetal force - You’re awakened in early light by blood dripping from the ceiling - Something's Up - the sound of baby bones breaking - in broken-down beds - I am a terminal node branched away from the circuit of perfection - my eyes crash through their sockets and I flail at the darkness - sometimes it hurts to be alone - Nurse, can you up the pain meds?"
