A NEW Thirteen Myna Birds Flock has finally arrived!

Hello from Thirteen Myna Birds!

"Voice turned screechy, my soft hands, now hard claws - in the stations of silence, the static in between channels - The rain drizzles on - to be content to exist for however long - longer than the moth who burns itself out in light - she wears an officer’s silver jumpsuit, laser gun in her belt - and I explode inside - My face has changed to skull-bone, covered in a hard shell - the moment I put the pen to it the page bursts into flames - Lost in a burned prairieland - sidewalk rubbish floating up at ya like attack-ghosts - a wall that needs to be fed Blood - A tiny white flower blooms Against all the dark noises..."

***

It has been quite a while since a new Thirteen Myna Birds flock has arrived, but better late than never, I hope.

Within this new Thirteen Myna Birds flock, you can Spring into poetry and visual art by MISH - read some poetry by John Andrew Fredrick and listen to some music from his band, the black watch - and read some poetry by Holly Day, Wayne F Burke, Alexandra Dark, Yuan Changming, and James Moran.

Look, listen, and read it all HERE - https://13myna.blogspot.com/

***

(I'm also semi-tentatively thinking that instead of waiting months for the next new Myna Birds update, I might continually add a few new poems to this flock within the Poetry Month of April. This new flock of 21 creative contributions will stay up AT LEAST throughout the whole month of April, but additional poems might join the flock throughout that month.)

The NEW March 2022 Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE

The NEW March flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE! - https://13myna.blogspot.com/

With poetry by Lorna D. Keach, Lauren Reynolds, Kristin Garth, John Grey, Derek Lake Berghuis, Jan Ball, Maria Cameron, Meg Smith, Lillian Necakov, and art by MISH!

The ticket seller is asleep in his cage - my room had no window, only white liquor and a monsoon - the one who loves you shows you the trees full of hooks - like the leaf-light of the darkest forest - A room full of shrunken heads - with a gravel crunch and the click of teeth - willing to stand there skeletal but proud, with tiny brown corpses littered at their feet - more a death sentence, than impediment - Footsteps on their way and the figure could be skeletal, could be gaunt, could be anybody - I could see you becoming prey to some larger insect or bird - a wildness I’ve tried to hide, but can barely contain - I’m compelled to shelter Barbies in a plastic house inside a wooden one I own - Programmed and predictable, we are dominated by prayer - Behind the curtains of an invisible world - why would all your meat, be covered by a flimsy skin coat? - reflecting the thin arms of bare trees - The flaming sky signed our names in blood - The porcelain lamp shattered in your hand, and left no doubt - hearts holler joyfully into the black earth - tucked into the endoskeleton of your former lover - White light creeps into your eyes, where nothing lives.

Coffins rose up - I’m cloaked in red hood—spinning - bobbing to the Earth's surface - she sits on a stool behind a plastic barrier - wears a mask just as we all do right now - my dream notes are confusing and filled with dark images - sharp, dripping canines - my inbox is filled with stark reminders - not that big a deal unless you are the one in the box - They all hate you but none understand you - Silk webs wrap half a hawthorn - I might paint my face so that my face is like a mask - bleached spine on a library shelf - A mole in the middle of my forehead grew into an eye - Blink and you'll never blink again - Don’t stop till I say Stop.

NEW! The December Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is HERE!

The NEW December Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has arrived! Featuring visual art by MISH and poetry by Elyse Hart - Kaci Skiles Laws - Jeremy Szuder - DS Maolalai - Jessica Purdy - Paul Ilechko - Andrew K. Peterson - Vin Whitman.

The simmering mosquito larvae - controlled by the powers of his sorrow - all stretched and making ruts - made a house a home, a home a prison - sometimes I get clocks & mailboxes mixed up - how not to get stuck - and spoiled with cigarette ends - and acid and roasted pig - a dry field, broken open - leaving behind a bitter scrawling of goodbye - I have a hole inside me where love ought to be - cold as broken glass pieces - choose to be unpicked - all the uncomfortable people - the condition that makes them laugh at inappropriate times - the people who couldn't escape - Every root tries to grab hold - blackness feathering the strings - They drown the white horse - flaunting belly until the regurgitation of death - the horse’s nostrils fill with mud

"We want to leap over sadness like acrobats, but our hearts won’t let us - I was born from ice and slept in a cradle of clouds - deep in hidden drawers - the constant bombardment of memory - an awful science project gone awry - there is no tender-hearted romance - we spray the rainbow down with diesel - as eaters become the eaten - a color of stories, a vacuum filling - the snow inebriated the land - unblinking at her executioner - mouths forming holes - a vertebrae crushed, marked by the teeth of a beast - appreciate what the murderers have said - You can be trapped in an opulent house - rotting in the walls - I begged to be put out of my misery..."

he stumbled into his “vanishing box” - decomposing beneath unbroken skin - ghosts walk upside-down across the ceiling - salivating over evidence - decayed buildings - the crazy in her twinkled - the tip into the fleshlight - turned up it floats faster - it’s mutiny you know to be human inside of this sex show - she wanted him to feel intimidated and to feel as insignificant as she did

Queen Gertrude by Mish
"Birds that hadn’t learned to fly yet were about to be hauled away in trucks - I woke up screaming like a Barbie with no head and whose Dreamhouse is under water - soaked through and through with debris and fish feces - a shortage of coffins - The Pope shakes in awe by the power of the chainsaw - I’m lost in the narcissistic membranes of brain synapses that pay me no mind - like the cave in your head - presiding over its own prolonged rebirth - Maybe I should ask for help. I just don't know. It’s all a bit of a blur - The only thing that has ever made one iota of sense to me is the art and the art never fails me even when I fail myself"

At Lit Youngstown Presents Words Made Visible, a literary-visual art collaboration & exhibit at The Soap Gallery, February 3, 2018

EVERY HOLE IS BROKEN

You inserted small
bugs into my body
like it was just another
machine
until you lost
and I lost.

You just moved on
to the next slot
and didn't seem to care
that my slot had
stopped working.

Screaming on the other side
of a fallen down mirror.
Imprisoned inside my own
twisted cells. Gagging out
bloody coins until drained.

"I wake each morning with a painful thrill - a dead dragonfly pinned to the black felt of a shadow box - The tracks, tiny tunnels to his heart - all plugs connected to the socket - The glass eyes ready to drop out; fearful of fate - packets of white crystal neurological agents of sweetness used in civilian warfare - High voltage lines, a thousand stinging scorpions - colors bleed onto the customer’s skin - they save the world and i brood - gape gray"

Another Art and Poetry Combo Pack - with HALLOWEEN DARK DELIGHT

This listing offers you a creepy artsy one-of-a-kind Halloween ornament AND a poetry chapbook.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/162321948/art-and-poetry-combo-pack-one-of-a-kind?

Both are available separately within the Blood Pudding Press shop - but with this listing, you can get both for a reduced price, rather than buying them each separately.
*

The altered art Halloween ornament was created from a small vintage baby shoe I purchased and then painted with various colors of acrylic paint (especially blood red) and stabbed a tiny hole into and added a colorful and dark ribbon binding, so it can be hung as an ornament.

*
With this purchase, you can choose ONE of these two 2013 Contest Winning Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbooks:

RENEGADE//HEART by Lisa M. Cole

(Find out more about this chapbook here -https://www.etsy.com/listing/119192462/renegadeheart-by-lisa-mcole-new-2013?ref=shop_home_feat)

OR

Only one of this Halloween ornament exists, so this is a one-of-a-kind listing. Once it's gone, it's gone.

However, there is also one similar listing - featuring a one-of-a-kind mini painting and two other 2013 chapbooks to choose from too here -https://www.etsy.com/listing/162309424/art-and-poetry-combo-pack-one-of-a-kind?ref=listing-shop-header-0

Art and Poetry Combo Packs

Added two new offerings to the Blood Pudding Press shop last night, in which you could purchase a combo pack that gives you one 2013 poetry chapbook AND a one-of-a-kind mini art piece at a slightly reduced price.

Since the painting/collage art pieces are one-of-a-kind, there were only two such listings to start with - and one of them quickly sold - so as of right now, only one listing still remains available (but I will attempt to add more semi-soon).

***

One listing in which you receive my mini painting collage hybrid called doll crematorium - a one of a kind, poem-inspired, abstract art piece with teeth.

Plus ONE of these two 2013 poetry chapbooks:

Poisonous Beautyskull Lollipop by Juliet Cook published this year by Grey Book Press.

OR

Sister, Blood and Bone by Paula Cary, the very latest 2013 poetry chapbook published by Blood Pudding Press.

lots of little poetry portals

"I don't think poetry can be "found" by picking up a rock or a dead bird off the ground and simply calling it poetry and that's IT - but I do think poetry/art can be unexpectedly yet significantly inspired by such findings. For me, something about the visual imagery of bird fetuses and the thoughts then provoked in my mind can stimulate poetry/art. Same with other sorts of small things that many people would overlook and/or would find unworthy of much consideration and/or would find grossly unappealing. The tendency to ignore things like that makes me wonder WHY. Is it because of being easily grossed out? Is it because small odd things are inconsequential to the mainstream? Is it because of fear of death, fear of demise, fear of being crushed by something larger, fear of non-existence?"

A snippet from an interview with Blood Pudding Press editor Juliet Cook (about dead birds, art, poetry, publishing and more), which appears within the new issue of Sein und Werden, here - http://www.kissthewitch.co.uk/seinundwerden/summer13/index.html

The interview also brings up Cook's recent collaborative work with Robert Cole – and a collaborative poem by the two of them, “Churning Codex Portal”, appears in this issue of Sein as well.

“Churning Codex Portal” is a poem from their collaborative chapbook, “Mutant Neuron Codex Swarm”, chosen to be published by Hyacinth Girl Press in 2014.

A few more poems from that chapbook are soon to appear online within “Black Heart Magazine” and “Menacing Hedge” (via which you will be able to hear them read some of the poems too).

Also  a new individual poem by Juliet Cook is coming soon from POETSARTISTS (The Social Portrait).
