Read the first poem in Juliet Cook's NEW Poetry Chapbook, REVOLTING (and more)!

"Sometimes we learn the hard way
that some mice will eat their own babies

like sadistic cannibals, leaving nothing but half a body
attached to a head that will always live inside mine."

in the first poem ("From Hormone Imbalance to Death") within Juliet Cook's NEW chapbook, "REVOLTING" (very recently published by Cul-de-sac of Blood).

I'm sharing a few more photos of this chapbook, as well as this whole poem here.

Front cover - first page of poem - second page of poem - back cover.

You can acquire the whole chapbook (in conjunction with other chapbooks or by itself) from Cul-de-sac of Blood HERE - https://www.culdesacofblood.com/books

Or you can acquire it by itself directly from Cook.

NEW! A collaborative poem by Daniel G. Snethen and Juliet Cook is appearing in Issue #106 of Yellow Mama!

Blood splatters the chalkboard
like malicious bite marks
which coagulate, then flow like crimson ink
spelling out in perfect combination:
"Here's Johnny!"
as the enraged father figure/evil teacher/bus driver

spits in my face, screams at me for being
a finicky eater, insists I stick my pinky finger
inside the pencil sharpener
and I do so—obediently, though it hurts.

in "Dire Wolf Consequences", a collaborative poem by Daniel G. Snethen and Juliet Cook, which is appearing in Yellow Mama Issue #106!

Preceded by art created by Keith Coats Walker!

Here's a link to the collaboration, but read Daniel's individual poems in this issue too, as well as investigating some of the other creepy fiction and poetry and art!

And now two more collaborative poems appearing at Unlikely Stories, by Daniel Snethen and Juliet Cook - "Paisley Purpled Political Head Rotation" and "Until All Hope Is Gone".
Thank you very much to Unlikely Stories!
"In this dream, they wished to be the captains
of a tiny ship swimming in a tidy kitchen sink.
Then the sink massively expanded.
In this nightmare, the ship ended
in an enormous public restroom
urinal about to be flushed."

NEW! Juliet Cook is peculiarly thrilled to have a creepy collaborative clown poem appearing in Horror Sleaze Trash!

"...in which a strained
amalgamation of Snow White’s Stepmother applies a ton of clown makeup
to cover up her aging face, then stares at her evil clown head until
every mirror cracks, the glass breaks through the windows,
the windmill splits in half, revolving clown heads drip with blood
"

in Alex S. Johnson and Juliet Cook's creepy collaborative clown poem, "Greasepaint Inferno", which is now making an appearance within Horror Sleaze Trash HERE - https://horrorsleazetrash.com/2024/06/29/juliet-cook-and-alex-s-johnson/

the sun breaks through chunks of obsidian - to look at her drawings of flying penises - poisoned river raging in her quivering heart - metal smile awash in her spurting blood - torn apart and in darkness - In darkness my body feels less exposed - I’m tangled up with my invisible-but-evil twin - Her motionless body on the bed - not lifeless—not yet - We’ve all been poisoned - The culturally relevant now like pink Elephants & clowns - He’s got a secret fishing hole, which he currently can’t get to - She sees stars behind shaded eyes - gatekeeping foam while bodies sleep on beach blankets, tented blue dimensions - In a multidimensional multireality Multiconsciousness dream of the future - steel teeth chewing through - all strange parades of weightless flesh packed in black vinyl - In a language no one speaks - as the long shadows crawl and the tide comes in - Vibrating with muses On the edge of midnight...
