Check out this new review written by Juliet Cook about Pella Felton's new uniquely wonderful poetry collection, {f}ragile Nests (published by Roadside Press) and then consider buying a copy of the book if you don't have one yet.

Thank you to The Literary Underground for publishing Cook's review.

"The beginning of the book involves an interesting and multifaceted Prologue, which expresses, among many other contradictory complexities, “I co[m]e fro[m] a box that should not exist”. But Pella’s box definitely does exist (within many different facets and interconnections), definitely deserves to exist, and definitely deserves to be viewed, heard, read, and explored."

"I’ve also been thinking about glass cages and glass coffins lately (in part, because I’m repeatedly inserting glass coffins into a small series of interconnected poems I’m in the process of working on) and so I visualized Pella’s box (or one of them) as a glass coffin she was breaking through. Breaking through a glass mirror or a glass coffin involves cracks and shards and wounds but once the glass is broken through something new may emerge. Something that has been somewhat hiding inside oneself for quite some time (like a poem) and shall now be revealed in varying phases and styles and degrees"

NEW! Juliet Cook is very excited to share that her poem "Too Much or Not Enough" is appearing In Conversation at The Literary Underground!

"...When we were like dolls,
they could cut off our fingers and toes
more easily. Maybe even cut out
our tongues. Snap a neck, invade
our brains. Diminish our bodies

with ongoing hateful clichés, ridicule,
ridiculous standards."

the beginning of Cook's poem, "Too Much or Not Enough", which is newly appearing In Conversation at The Literary Underground!

Currently this is the first poem in a sequence of interconnected poems that Cook been working on for quite a while now, so I guess we shall see what happens with that. Maybe when it's finally semi-done, she may try to turn it into a chapbook length manuscript of sorts.

NEW! Juliet Cook is excited and delighted that a new poem of hers, "Disengaged" is newly appearing In Conversation at The Literary Underground!

"I pull off its head, toss most of its body
inside a garbage bin. I remove
the two arms, keep them disconnected

in my bedroom, against the wall,
beside my bookcase, facing the opposite angle
away from the previous mannequin parts."

in Cook's poem "Disengaged", which appears In Conversation at The Literary Underground today
