"I can tell you the leeches and parasites inside me / have always joined forces with confetti" (inside Juliet Cook's CONTORTED DOOM CONVEYOR)...

"I can tell you the leeches and parasites inside me
have always joined forces with confetti.
My glittery brain waves rip the bandages off,
bite back, then cover the wounds with more words.

My mental kaleidoscope collides with another Martini.
I like it sweet and I like it strong. My drinking buddy
is a hot pink narwhal named Mister Melodramatosis."

the beginning of the first poem, "With a Cherry on Top of His Tusk" inside Juliet Cook's new poetry chapbook, "CONTORTED DOOM CONVEYOR", newly available from Gutter Snob Books!

A few recent photos and comments about Juliet Cook's new poetry chapbook, "red flames burning out"!

Thank you very much to Jason O'Toole for sharing Juliet Cook's newest poetry chapbook, "red flames burning out" on Twitter and saying this about it:

"Mail day brought the new chapbook by the extraordinary @nonvanilla - she's not only an excellent poet - she produces beautiful chapbooks and supports other poets.

The poems are among @nonvanilla Juliet's best. It's relentless, searingly honest, and plays with your emotions."

And thank you very much to MISH for recommending "red flames burning out"

"Mish Recommends: I'm working intensely on a new poetry collection, and these are my inspirations, among others: EROTIC by Alexis Rhone Fancher, RED FLAMES BURNING OUT by Juliet Cook, and THE COMPLETE POEMS by Anne Sexton. I highly recommend all three books."

NEW! Juliet Cook's poem "From Hormone Imbalance to Death" is appearing in Scapegoat Review Spring 2023!

"We found its dead body inside a kitchen cabinet,
skinny, curled to one side, and all alone.
Sometimes we learn the hard way

that other people think we're overreacting
by getting really upset when a little pet dies,
as if it should be easy to replace

one little pet with another little pet
or one little spouse with another little spouse.
As if death is not the end of everything."

in Juliet Cook's poem From Hormone Imbalance to Death, newly appearing in the new SCAPEGOAT REVIEW SPRING 2023

NEW! Six new poems by Juliet Cook are appearing within A Thin Slice of Anxiety!

Juliet Cook has six new poems making an appearance in A Thin Slice of Anxiety!

"Red cloud formations cover your body,
wait for you to become
a new animal.
When the animals die young,
they last longer
in memory-land.

When you die old, they will put up a photo
of you when you were young,
as though your recent years were nothing.
Not nearly as exciting as your youth,
at least not physically.

When you were a teenage nightmare,
you started to dream of dying
before you reached that violent gurgling
middle stream of ongoing irrelevance.
Before you sank down to the bottom
and drowned while you were still alive"

from the poem "Fifty Ice Crystals Melting Away"
