Juliet Cook is excited to receive a Pushcart Prize nomination for a poem within her Malformed Confetti! Thank you to Crisis Chronicles Press!

Blood Pudding Press editor and poet Juliet Cook is delighted, excited, and thrilled to receive a new Pushcart Prize nomination from Crisis Chronicles Press for her poem, "assembly line doll head roach hotel", which appears in her new full-length poetry book, Malformed Confetti!
Thank you very much to Crisis Chronicles Press editor John Burroughs and congratulations to the other nominees!

"assembly line doll head roach hotel" was previously published online by ACTION YES (here's a link to the archives with that poem, preceded by another poem, which also happens to appear within my Malformed Confetti book) - http://actionyes.org/issue12/cook/cook1.html

"assembly line doll head roach hotel" also previously appeared in my chapbook, "Fondant Pig Angst", which was published by Slash Pine Press, but is no longer available.

Both of those publications happened 8 or 9 years ago.

Now the poem appears within my second full-length poetry book, Malformed Confetti, which was published in October 2018 by Crisis Chronicles Press - which includes poems from 2008 -2015 - and which can be acquired via Crisis Chronicles Press, here - http://ccpress.blogspot.com/2018/10/Cook102.html

A Few Lines from Juliet Cook's MALFORMED CONFETTI

"Once upon a time I wished to be wan
with black tips. Sooty tern in place of heart,
pecking, pecking. The shell cracks; it seeps
bone meal. Furry poltergeists sip from

my marrow like maggots
working a wound, little sinners
to digest the dead flesh until
the fur bristles.

It looked like a suckling pig between the legs
again, but one of my holes was birthing
a whole peccary."

what constitutes a healthy or unhealthy
size or shape of our own voice box?
How do we know if it’s even our own?"

NEW in Bone & Ink Press - "Dark Princess" by j/j hastain and Juliet Cook AND "Leeches" by Michael Bernstein and Juliet Cook

"The exhibition staged in a black hole,
the pummel of raw gravity collapsing the catwalk
in a neutron slop, an implosion of logic,
slick and burning green and just because
the ghosts became ants doesn't mean
they can't turn red again and then grow
into the size of moray eels and steal
more life. Their crystalline fangs bear down,
existence itself rending to tatters in a slimy death roll"

within the poem, "Leeches" by Michael Bernstein and Juliet Cook, one of two collaborative poems appearing in Bone & Ink Press today

A darkly delicious new mini-review of Juliet Cook's almost ten year old poetry book, "Horrific Confection"

A darkly delicious new mini-review of Juliet Cook's almost ten year old poetry book, "Horrific Confection":
"Melt into the sugary brine that moats the dollhouse towers of minisculely detailed and finely rotated words that make up the luscious and mercurial poetry that defines this author's finely honed senses."

"From One Ruined Human to Another" by Juliet Cook (new from CWP Collective Press, as of June 2018)!

Blood Pudding Press editor and poet Juliet Cook is extremely excited and delighted to announce...

I have a NEW poetry chapbook, "From One Ruined Human to Another", newly published and newly available from Cringe-Worthy Poets Collective!

This is my first new poetry chapbook to be published within the last three years, so those of you who hear me read poetry have probably encountered some of these poems in recent years.

For those of you who don't know my poetry, it isn't very pretty. Little girls coalesce into blobs of blood with ripped out hearts. Contaminated tissue, bible cysts, evil spells, slimy pus, disbelief in love, dead birds, dead hearts and other broken parts, doll torsos with broken heads, giant rat traps, stars filled with teeth broken from the molars, at least three different poems with pussy in them, lots and lots of blood and lots and lots of holes.

The chapbook contains 26 hideous pages worth of poems created by me AND two pieces of fantastically wonderful cover art created by poet/artist Craig Firsdon (one on the outside front cover and one on the inside front cover).

I'll share more photos and more information soon (because I received my own copies of this chapbook in the mail, this past weekend), but for now I am sharing a link to where you can acquire your very own copy of my new book, and I'm sharing some close up scans of Craig Firsdon's cover art!

If you're into my poetry (or are interested in checking it out), please support the press that chose to publish it!  For only 5 bucks plus shipping, you can get yourself a copy from CWP Collective and have a hand-designed book of 25 dark red poems and two fabulous pieces of unique art right in front of you.

HERE! - https://www.cwpcollectivepress.com/bookstore-1/from-one-ruined-human-to-another

You can also buy other chapbooks from CWP too!

As a small sample, here's the beginning of my poem "After the Lite Brite Died"

"Sometimes I'm not in the mood for light hearted.
Sometimes I'm not in the mood for light.
Sometimes I'd rather sit by myself in the dark.

Sometimes I only want the Lite Brite colors to be dark
red like a rare moon, red like the blood
that will make you back away from this
girl turning into a woman who will not keep her own red flow a secret anymore."

A NEW Review of the Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "Paloma" by Jennifer E. Hudgens at Cultural Weekly!

"The chapbook is a collector’s item
The actual physical book is hand-made by Blood Pudding Press and is a piece of art unto itself. The cover, front matter, and “innards” of the book are of high quality, heavy, tinted paper. The binding is string/yarn that resembles a feather boa (no real feathers used). Readers can choose among several colors of cover and binding (I chose hot pink cover with pink, blue, and multi colored bindings).
The cover art for Paloma—featuring a likeness of Lauren Kate—is a collage made by the lost friend, Lauren Kate herself. And it fits the book as if it were an organic whole. Anyone who appreciates fine chapbooks will likely appreciate this book.
I read the entire chapbook at one sitting, and I have to admit, I was “blown away.” I recommend this collector’s item book to readers who appreciate an interesting speaker, good imagery, and sensitive, touching poems that manage to stay convincingly real. Paloma by Jennifer E. Hudgens is a keeper, for sure—and for all the right reasons"
from a wonderful new review by Eileen Murphy, of the Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "Paloma" by Jennifer E. Hudgens, appearing in Cultural Weekly this week!

Thank you very much to Eileen Murphy and Cultural Weekly!

A NEW Review of the Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "Paloma" by Jennifer E. Hudgens at Swimming With Elephants Publications!

"With each poem thereafter comes a chapter of both closure and reawakening old memories; Paloma is remarkably bittersweet in the tug-of-war of saying goodbye to somebody who can no longer hear you, and Hudgens’ voice is so clear and combative against adhering to traditional standards... it is clear that Hudgens proves to be anything but a traditional poet; she rocks the reader’s thoughts, with gruesome details suggesting unkempt murder, encouraging one to further unravel the mayhem behind a sudden loss. Nonetheless, this proves to be a beautiful read, a true work of dedication and memory"
part of a wonderful new review of the Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "Paloma" by Jennifer E. Hudgens which appeared in a Featured Author section of SWIMMING WITH ELEPHANTS last month.
