The Blood Pudding Press 2015 chapbook contest results!

Blood Pudding Press 2015 chapbook contest results!

I know I had indicated with the contest guidelines that at least three finalists and two winners would be chosen - and each of the two winners would have their chapbooks published and would receive thirteen free copies of their chapbook. Similarly to last year, it felt nearly impossible for me to narrow it down to only naming five people, so I doubled that and am naming ten people - four Semi-Finalists, three Finalists, and THREE WINNERS.

I will only be publishing the three winners, but I truly hope the Finalists and Semi-Finalists soon find a press that chooses their manuscripts to publish too. In fact, there were handfuls of chapbooks that very much deserve to be published that didn't quite make it into my top ten list, because I received so many oodles of high quality submissions.

Here are the Blood Pudding Press chapbook contest results - from four Semi-Finalists to three Finalists to the THREE WINNERS.

Four Semi-Finalists:

Clarissa Jakobsons - Camille Claudel: Montdevergues Asylum

Stephanie Lane Sutton - Revocation

Kelly Andrews - Kingdom of Lust

Yu-Han Chao - Notes to a White Belt

Three Finalists :

Paul David Adkins - War Stories

Winnona Elson Pasquini - AND THE STARS FROM THE SKY ARE RIPPED

Jennifer MacBain-Stephens - Jeanne

The Three Winners (in the order Blood Pudding Press plans to publish them):

Lauren Gordon - Fiddle Is Flood  (to be published in March)

Matthew J. Hall - Pigeons and Peace Doves (to be published in late May/early June)

Nicole Rollender - Bone of My Bone (to be published in late August/early September)

Thank you again to everyone and big congratulations to the three winners!

I will be in touch with the winners a little later this month.

Sincerely, Blood Pudding Press/Juliet Cook

“the beer in my blood washed through my thighs I could feel the trickle of my
period waiting deep in my belly, the swelling of the rounded moon reflected there
from the towering window, crashing rain sang a fall midnight call, thunder
echoed against the walls of the sky I closed my eyes writhing under cold lens
like a microscope creature death pangs under eye of cold light”

Happy Creative Xmas/Artmas from Thirteen Myna Birds and Blood Pudding Press!

This is a special addition of the online Thirteen Myna Birds hooking up with Blood Pudding in honor of its recent chapbook contest winners and three semi-finalists - http://13myna.blogspot.com/.

The first winning chapbook, Renegade // Heart by Lisa M. Cole is on the brink of publication/creation and will be available starting on New Year’s Eve! The second winning chapbook, Poking Through The Fabric of the Light that Formed Us: Songs and Stories to Read in the Mirror by Lora Bloom will be published later in January or February.  One poem from each of those two collections appears among the Myna Birds.

Then the next ten poetic offerings (four poems by Paula Cary, three poems by Allie Marini Batts, & three poems by Paul David Adkins) are among the three semi-finalist’s poetry manuscripts, which hopefully other lucky duck small presses will choose to publish soon!

Enjoy these offerings and feel free to visit the Blood Pudding Press shop, for other artsy arrangements, including the two coming soon new poetry chapbooks noted above.

Blood Pudding Press Poetry Chapbook Contest Results! – Three Semi-Finalists and Two Winners Announced!

This was a tough, challenging choice for Blood Pudding Press to make, as the contest entries were filled with so many interesting, well-written, diverse offerings, brimming with oodles of their own unique talent and flare.

Ultimately, the two chosen to be published by Blood Pudding Press were the two I decided were the best fit for my press, content-wise and stylistically and emotionally.

They offer utterly unique, emotionally raw, gut wrenching, powerful pussy-centric poetry that doesn’t fit into the mainstream – that doesn’t come across as academic OR as ‘outsider writer’; that comes across as its own oozing entity.

The three semi-finalists -

1.  Paula Cary – Sister, Blood and Bone

2.  Allie Marini Batts – Wake Up, Breathe, Keep Breathing

3. Paul David Adkins– Pharmacology
